Credit Recovery / Credit Support/ Unit Request

The concept behind credit recovery and credit support is to provide a service for face to face schools. There is much research that explains credit recovery as a successful venture in retaining and motivating students to complete their high school. The relationship between Saskatoon Catholic Cyber School and face to face school is that the online school will provide the service of teaching the content and assessing the students.

Credit Recovery: A student has received a failing mark in a class and it has been submitted to the ministry by the home school. The teacher has decided that the student has the opportunity to redo a unit (or two) on cyber school to be able to pass the class. The in-person teacher will come up with the final mark, deciding how to incorporate the cyber marks they receive. The home school will be submitting the mark to the ministry. Credit Support: A student who is still currently doing the class, is going to be absent for a time out of class so the teacher needs them to do a unit or two on cyber to add to the teacher's mark. The in-person teacher will come up with the final mark, deciding how to incorporate the cyber marks they receive. The home school will be submitting the mark to the ministry. Credit Completion: A student has done less than 50% of their in-person class and needs to move to cyber. In this case, the student will register for the full cyber course and the in-person teacher will send the student's current marks, with details about what units they have done, to the counsellor to pass onto cyber. The cyber teacher can then decide what to use and how to incorporate those marks. The cyber teacher will decide what units in the cyber course the student needs to complete and communicate this to the teacher. The final mark will be decided by the cyber school teacher and submitted to the ministry by the cyber school. For this type of registration click here: Cyber School Registration

Elementary unit requests can be processed as well if the home school requires them.  In these instances, when possible, the expectation would be the home school classroom teacher would be the teacher of the online unit(s) to better differentiate instruction and units to the student, especially if the student is to return to the face to face school after the online work is completed.
