Curriculum Guide

Pre-requisite Pre-Calculus 30

Calculus 30 involves a study of limits, the derivative function and its applications to problem solving and graphing, and integration and its applications.

Course Information / Credit Recovery Units

Unit One - Limits (18 days)

Limits contains the introduction to Calculus, limits of graphical situations, limit types, one – sided limits, infinite limits, continuity, evaluation of limits by several methods, radicals, absolute values, sequences , limits at infinity, and piece wise functions

Unit Two - Differentiation is the basis of differentiation (16 days)

It explores differentiation and the basic rules of differentiation (explicit and Implicit). It sets up the math for use in upcoming sections.

Unit Three - Derivatives of Trig, Exponents, and Logarithms (24 days)

Derivatives of Trig, Exponents, and Logarithms furthers the work done in unit 2. The work now includes trigonometric and logarithmic functions as well.

Unit Four - Graphical Applications(24 days)

Now that we have the basic rules and functions in place, it is time to explore the problems. This unit contains the primary focus of how Calculus is studied today- graphical applications

Unit Five - Curve Sketching(24 days)

Has students use zeroes, asymptotes, and other maths to find curves of various numerical derivatives. Another major focus

Unit Six/Seven- Integration and Area(28 days)

This is where students are asked to work backwards and find anti-derivatives and applications of area. The unit is shorter as it is meant only to be an introduction that would be furthered at university.
